Books - But Wait, There's More!

"Books are the training weights of the mind."
-- Epictetus

I found two new Delphi books. One that I've been looking forward to for a long time and another one that I just learned about.

Keep 'em coming...

Delphi in Depth: FireDAC

by Cary Jensen

Learn how to connect to a wide variety of databases. Optimize your connection configurations. Explore the world of indexes, searches, and filters. Discover the power of persisted datasets. Create flexible queries using macros and FireDAC scalar functions. Achieve blazing performance with Array DML. Master the art of cached updates. Add sophisticated features using Local SQL.

This feels very much like a follow-up to Cary's previous book Delphi in Depth: ClientDataSets, except with a much broader scope. Who better to write a thorough and easy to follow account of the features, techniques and even some idiosyncrasies of the FireDAC database library?

Expert Delphi

by Paweł Głowacki

Become a developer superhero and build stunning cross-platform apps with Delphi.

Paweł works for Embarcadero as European Lead for Developer Tools. Everything you need to know to build single-source cross platform applications with Delphi, taking advantage of the latest features in FireMonkey, FireDAC and DataSnap. There's even some IoT in there for good measure.

I stumbled across this book while I was looking for something else.  It is scheduled to be released in September, but pre-orders are available. It has been released and is available as an e-book or in hard copy.

When I see new Delphi books, I make a point of blogging about them, and I'm happy that I'm getting so many opportunities to do just that.

If you know of more, let me know. I've already made room on my book shelves.

Updates:

- Pawel's Expert Delphi was released in July

Does anyone know if the eBook format? I find the price for an eBook a bit high. And I would not want to get stuck with a PDF that would be a pain to read on a phone or Kindle.
