We are back for another session from the recently concluded Coding Boot Camp 2022. We already came across various topics relating to the fundamentals of Delphi. We also took a deeper insight into single and multi-dimensional arrays and their respective uses in Windows application development as well as other platforms such as Linux, macOS, and Android. In this video, presenter Heimo Jeske will show us how to work with colors and pictures in Delphi.  Here, he will show us how colors are seen through Delphi’s eyes.

Working with colors in Delphi and what you can do with them?

Working with colors in any programming language like Delphi is extremely important. These colors are not the actual code which goes to make the program or application but an understanding of how to work with color properties will help developers transform their apps into something more visually appealing. In this session, Heimo will demonstrate how to handle these colors and what exactly you can do with them. This topic is based on Kevin Bond’s How to Program Effectively in Delphi for AS/A Level Computer Science. Some of you have probably played with colors via Delphi’s compiler and you most probably saw that you can select colors through the property.

Changing color properties in Delphi can be done in a number of different ways. The first is by selecting from preset colors in the drop-down combos of the property manager or color constants like clWhite. The second is through custom-defined color in which you input hexadecimal numbers. The third option is through decimal number input. The video will focus on the hexadecimal input option and will provide us with a demonstration. We’ll also get a brief look at how Delphi defines colors and what exactly we can do with them, and how we can actually apply them to some nice applications. Heimo will build a small application that allows users to manipulate colors by adjusting the intensity level.
