DelphiFeeds.com started as a side project of Tobias and Dennis Gurock. The site has been originally developed as an internal project for the Gurock Software intranet. We decided to make it public when we noticed how useful such a site would be for the Delphi community. DelphiFeeds.com has gained quite a bit of popularity in the few years it has been online and has become one of the top news sites for Delphi related topics.
How does the site work?
This site collects many different feeds from blogs, newsgroups and other Delphi sites. We publish short excerpts from these postings or articles on the DelphiFeeds.com front page. The whole process is automated and we cannot review every single posting that is added to the site. We try to include quality blogs and sites only so that the signal/noise ratio should be good.
How does voting work?
There are two kinds of votes on the site: you can vote a posting up by clicking the vote button next to each posting. Popular postings, i.e. postings with many votes, are promoted to the Popular section of the front-page. Popular postings thus stay longer on the front-page and get more attention. You cannot vote postings down, this is intentionally. You can, however, mark postings as off-topic, but only do so when a posting is clearly off-topic and not about Delphi or a related tech topic. If a posting is marked off-topic by many users, it's removed from the front-page.
